FREE Climate Change Workshops for your school with Cornwall Climate Care
Do you want to introduce your students to the topic of climate change but don't have the resources? Are you concerned about climate anxiety in your class? Do you want to know what the 'toilet roll of time' is?
These workshops can help!
Climate change is one of the biggest threats faced by our planet but shockingly it is not a compulsory element of the National Curriculum until Key Stage 4. In a 2020 survey of primary and secondary school teachers by Teach the Future, 90% of teachers agreed or strongly agreed that climate change education should be compulsory in all schools, but many reported being overstretched with compulsory elements and lack of expertise as barriers to covering the subject in their lessons.
Developed in partnership with climate geologist Dr Jodie Fisher, University of Plymouth and using age-appropriate clips from Cornwall Climate Care's films, these workshops cover the causes of climate change and its effects on a variety of topics. I make potentially scary information accessible and fun by using interactive activities to increase understanding and inspire hope for the future through changes to personal behaviour. I end with the message that you can make a difference no matter how old you are by taking small actions that will add up to make a big difference!
